Local marketing for high-street shops

Grocers, butchers, bakeries, restaurants, florists, ethnic shops, hair salons, opticians, pharmacies, craft workshops — your revenue plays out within a 5 km radius. More views on your Google profile, more calls, more directions, more shop visits, more sales. I build the full system — GBP, local SEO, Google Ads, Meta geo-targeted, vitrine site, social, reviews, loyalty — and steer it monthly on real numbers, not branding.

For whom

The families of shops I actually support

No generic “all sectors” pitch. Here are the typologies where I have data, cases and a battle-tested framework.

01

Ethnic grocers and markets

Moroccan, Turkish, Indian, Italian, Vietnamese, Asian and African grocers. Tight-knit community, emotional product attachment, religious calendar. Lever: Reels of new arrivals + WhatsApp Business + Meta geo-targeted on a 10 km radius.

02

Butchers, bakers, cheesemongers

Traditional food trades. Advantage: quality you can see, craft you can film, loyal customers. Lever: premium Google Business Profile, weekly product photos, structured customer reviews, short videos of production steps.

03

Restaurants and bars

Local restaurants, bistros, niche kitchens, food trucks. Lever: signature-recipe Reels + digital menu + retargeting Google Maps visitors + reputation management on TheFork/Tripadvisor.

04

Florists, craft workshops, wine merchants

Premium and emotional products. Lever: long-tail local SEO ("wedding florist Strasbourg"), Instagram inspiration, seasonal campaigns (Valentine's, Mother's Day, Christmas), local partnerships.

05

Salons, beauty studios, barbers

Hairdressers, beauty studios, barbers, nail bars, spas. Lever: visual-first Google Business Profile, online booking (Planity, Treatwell or native), behind-the-scenes Reels + results, Meta Ads for local 25-45 audiences, a simple loyalty programme.

06

Opticians, pharmacies, professional services

Trust trades with repeat custom. Lever: local SEO for commercial queries ("optician near me"), geo-targeted Google Ads Search on precise intents, structured review strategy, educational content (eye health, advice).

My levers

The full arsenal to bring customers into your shop.

Nine concrete projects, never all activated at once. We start with the 2 or 3 that produce the fastest return, then expand depending on your margins and priorities.

01

Google Business Profile · premium

Full optimisation: primary + secondary categories, attributes, opening hours (bank holidays included), weekly photos, monthly posts, 100 percent of reviews answered within 48h. GBP is your number one channel — it shows up BEFORE your website.

02

Local SEO · ranking in the Local Pack

Consistent NAP citations across 20+ directories (Yelp, Tripadvisor and local equivalents depending on trade), local backlinks (regional press, neighbourhood blogs), geo-targeted content on your site. Goal: top 3 of the Local Pack for your commercial queries.

03

Geo-targeted Meta Ads · 5-10 km

Store Visit campaigns within 5-10 km, cultural or demographic affinity audiences, retargeting of GBP/site visitors. Monthly budget of EUR 50-150 is enough to generate measurable footfall.

04

WhatsApp Business · VIP list

Segmented broadcast list for new arrivals, promotions, religious or seasonal events. 200 loyal contacts convert better than 10,000 lukewarm followers. WhatsApp catalogue setup + Make automation.

05

Social content · Reels + Stories

15-60 second Reels structured around 5 content pillars: new arrivals, recipes, product education, behind-the-scenes, seasonal calendar. Weekly schedule + visual briefs + production in-house or outsourced.

06

Vitrine site · digital storefront

No need for a full e-commerce site — a 5-page WordPress shop window (Home, Products or Menu, Gallery, About, Contact) is enough to reassure and direct to GBP, WhatsApp or booking. Managed hosting, security, 90+ mobile PageSpeed, LocalBusiness schema baked in.

07

Local Google Ads · Search + Maps

Geo-targeted Search campaigns on hot commercial intents ("{trade} {city}", "{trade} open now"), location extensions, ads inside Google Maps. EUR 100-300/month depending on area. Phone calls + directions tracked as conversions.

08

Customer reviews · structured pipeline

Automated review request after visit (in-store QR code, WhatsApp link, post-purchase SMS), 100 percent reply rate within 48h in English + secondary language, monitoring across Yelp / TripAdvisor / Google. Target: one new review per working day, average rating 4.7+.

09

Retention · email + SMS + loyalty card

Simple loyalty programme (digital card, points per visit or per euro), email + SMS opt-in collected at the till or via QR, monthly reactivation campaigns ("we miss you"), birthday offer. Tiny cost, huge margin on existing customers.

My process

Four steps, no surprises.

No black box: every phase has a concrete deliverable and a time window announced upfront.

01 Audit

State of play

Visit to your shop (in person in Strasbourg, remote elsewhere), GBP audit, social audit, local SEO audit. Written report with 3 priorities.

02 Plan

90-day strategy

Costed action plan month by month — what to publish, what to optimise, which reviews to chase, which Meta budget. You approve before we launch.

03 Build

Roll-out

GBP optimised, citations built, first Meta campaigns live, WhatsApp set up, editorial calendar signed off. 4-6 weeks depending on scope.

04 Iterate

Continuous optimisation

Concrete monthly reporting: new in-store customers, follower growth, Meta ROI, top content. We keep what works, cut what doesn't.

Frequently asked questions

The questions I really get asked.

The real questions about budget, deadlines and scope. Not the generic FAQ.

A more specific question?
  • How much does this cost for a shop like mine?
Full programme (GBP + local SEO + Meta + content + WhatsApp): between EUR 800 and 1,500 per month depending on complexity. One-off audit or a gradual ramp-up possible from EUR 1,200 flat. No opaque tiers, no trap packages — always a detailed quote.
  • I don't have time to film Reels every week.
Fair enough. I give you a simple brief: 2 videos a week, 1 minute each, shot "selfie" style with no editing. I handle the editing, subtitles, posting schedule and hashtags. You just hit record in your shop — the rest happens remotely.
  • Are your clients only in Strasbourg?
No — I work remotely with shops all over France and across French-speaking countries (Belgium, French-speaking Switzerland, Luxembourg). Physical presence helps for the initial audit in Strasbourg/Grand Est, but all the follow-up runs over video + Slack.
  • What if I also sell online (Shopify, WooCommerce)?
Then we're talking about a hybrid programme: local SEO for the physical shop + Google Ads/Meta Ads for the e-commerce side. I run both dimensions without siloing them — most local shops with an online presence have strategies that reinforce each other.
  • Which sectors do you specifically work with?
Every food and high-street trade: grocers (ethnic or general), bakeries, butchers, cheesemongers, wine merchants, florists, craft workshops, restaurants, bars, hair salons, beauty studios, barbers, pharmacies, independent opticians, dry cleaners, cobblers. If you sell in person to customers within 5 km, you're in scope.
  • What results can I realistically expect?
Over 90 well-run days: GBP views x1.5 to x3, phone calls x2, directions requests x2 to x4. Over 6-12 months: top 3 of the Local Pack on 5 to 15 commercial queries, a base of 200 to 800 WhatsApp / email contacts depending on customer flow, geo-targeted Meta ROI between 4x and 7x. These ranges depend heavily on your starting point — I audit before I quote.
  • Do you handle bookings and the till too?
No — I'm an acquisition and visibility specialist. For bookings I plug into whatever you already use (Planity, Treatwell, Calendly, Booking, Doctolib depending on trade). For the till / payments I work with your current setup (Square, SumUp, Tiller, Lightspeed). My job is to bring in the right customers and make sure those tools convert.
